Year Book 2013 - page 29

History
It has been another eventful year in Senior History. Year 9 and 10 studied
Australian History which included Indigenous components and World Wars.
Year 10 also had the opportunity to visit the Australian War Memorial to look at
the Second World War exhibition. Several students took the extra opportunity of
competing in an external History competition including the ‘Anzac Spirit Prize’
and the ‘Simpson Prize Essay.’ Zachary Jabbour received a runner up award for
the ACT wide competition.
In Years 11 & 12, we studied a broad range of topics spanning from the French
and Russian Revolutions through to the First World War. One assessment on
World War One was a creative exploration on the Christmas Truces which
was a widespread phenomenon of 1914. A big thank you also to Dr Alastair
MacLachlan, our Historian in Residence, for his continuing guest lecturing
throughout the year.
