The Flexible Timetable at BCC

As we enter the second decade of the 21st Century, it is becoming clearer that it is no longer possible to apply 20th Century (and in some cases 19th Century) practices to 21st Century education. Research indicates that students in the 21st Century are applying greater levels of flexibility to their work and study habits. It is intended that after demonstrating competency in the use of technology and the capacity to manage time and study patterns wisely, students at Brindabella Christian College would work to a 10 4 day flexible timetable. The typical study fortnight might look something like this;

It is expected that during Semester 1 students will attend from 9.35am Monday to Friday. Flexi-time will be introduced in Term 2.

In Semester 2 students in Year 11 may apply for ‘flexi-time’ after an initial period in which they demonstrate competency in the use of technology and the capacity to manage time and study patterns wisely. Flexi-time allows students to arrive at school 15 minutes prior to the commencement of their first class for the day (unless that is after a Pastoral period) and to leave after their final period of the day. Applications must be signed by both the student and a parent/guardian and must be approved by the Head of Senior School. On arrival and departure students must sign in and out on the Year 11 and Year 12 Time Sheets.
