Operation Christmas Child has been an amazing event in the community of
Brindabella Christian College Community over the last few years and 2013
was the best! We sent 453 boxes! Every box that was packed will make a
difference in the life of a child in need. Our OCC boxes will find their home
in one of 7 South-east Asian countries which include Vietnam, Cambodia,
Thailand, Fiji, Samoa, PNG and Vanuatu. Samaritan’s Purse is widely known
for Operation Christmas Child; a project that has reached over 77 million
children in 130 countries with Christmas gifts since 1990. When we give one
box we are allowing our gift to reach local partners in each country (who
deliver the shoe boxes) to connect with families and communities, build
relationships, discover and meet other needs in these communities.
What an amazing partnership Brindabella has with Operation Christmas Child
as part of our Missions Programme. We can take the Good News and Great
Joy to kids in need through a simple shoebox filled with gifts. We many not
physically be able to go but we are giving of ourselves to meet a need in a
young child’s heart. No matter how old or how young you are, thank you
for becoming involved and making a difference to a child who has nothing.
A shoebox is far more than just a gift …it opens up a world of life-changing
opportunities for the child, their family and their community. We have been
part of that amazing change Brindabella!
This year the BCC Library partnered with
Marymead in their “At Home With Books”
book drive to encourage language and
literacy development of children in out-
of-home care, and children in vulnerable
families.
Families were asked to donate a new book
to go to the bookroom at Marymead and be
chosen by children to keep and love. More
than 70 books were donated and gratefully
received by Marymead.
