The 40 Hour Famine fundraiser night was held on Friday, 16th August in the LLC. 40 students
attended a night of games, information sessions and sharing on the importance of showing
God’s love for others and our own intentions behind participating in it. The World Vision
team, Tom Maclaughlin, Vicky Croker, Josh Robinson, Tayla Brister, Lucas Mackenzie and
Matilda Jenkins ran games for the evening and they encouraged all students to connect with
their passion for social justice. A special thanks must go to Mrs Barbara McAulliffe and
Mrs Katerina Warren who came along to support students, and to Mrs Jessica Roberts for
her support and help in organising the night. It was a wonderful night with lots of fun and
community spirit. Congratulations to all the students who participated.
Bear in a Bag (BIAB) is a project of Bethany Healing Foundation in partnership
with FusionConnect, a ministry of Fusion City Church. The program, established
in 2011, provides comfort packages to children experiencing a crisis in the ACT
such as homelessness, family violence, or poverty. The reusable backpack contains a
teddy bear and a personalized letter identifying the bear to the child. It also includes
other “bear” essentials such as a writing tablet, markers or crayons and a toothbrush
and toothpaste. BIAB aims to show children that they live in a community that
cares about them no matter what.
To say that the BIAB team has been overwhelmed by the support of the Brindabella
community would be an understatement! The money raised will go to help so many
children and for that we are grateful and give thanks to not only the Brindy family,
but to our amazing Heavenly Father! Without Him by our sides, none of this would
have been possible!
