Principal’s Pen

For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will
never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth.
Daniel 6: 26-27
Dear Brindabella Friends,
This year has required the courage and wisdom of Daniel
during a time of growth at the College. Whilst the
federal political instability impacted all sections of the
Australian population for the better part of the 2013
year, the Canberra community was particularly sensitive
to the outcome of the federal election. Schools thrive
on stability and the uncertainty of these times has led to
some concern amongst local private schools. Brindabella
is well placed to continue to offer families the same high
standard of education provided within a Christ focused
framework.
One thing remains clear to me; that we serve a living
God who rescues and saves. It is God’s presence that
lights the path for the College as we seek to educate
young minds and hearts. We pray the children and young
people leaving the shores of Brindabella are people able
to be trusted and honest, those who do what they say
they will do – on time, every time.
This has been an outstanding year for the Brindabella
community. The first BCC Vietnam Mission trip was a
celebration of giving. Staff and students chose to touch
the lives of children in Sa Pa by raising funds and sending
a team to supply a fence for the Sa Pa local school, and
grass, plants and play equipment for an orphanage,
that we might serve and love the beautiful Vietnamese
people.
Congratulations to four Brindabella netball teams that
made the semi-finals in the local competition, and to the
three Mountain Bike riding teams that competed in the
National competition at Stromlo. We celebrated the P &
F Disco night, Book Week with outstanding guest visitors,
Mrs Bance’s and Mrs McKenzie’s nominations as teachers
of excellence by their community, the establishment of
the BCC Alumni Committee and our wonderful children!
In 2013, the numbers of children at Brindabella
nudged 730 (600 in K-12 and 130 in both Early Learning
Centres) and the College took great pride in the many
achievements throughout the year with our young ones,
whether large or small. The pressure on enrolments and
desire to serve local families led to the development of
the Charnwood campus, with 2014 Kindergarten class
commencing in the coming year.
The Brindabella Christian College (Lyneham and
Charnwood campuses) completed the registration
process ensuring that the College meets ACT Government
requirements with exemplary standards of facilities,
policies and curriculum to deliver a high quality Christian
education. The Charnwood campus pioneer families
are ready to embark on the adventure of establishing
a new school for children in the Belconnen area. The
process of establishing this new school has, from the
commencement, been a journey of signs and wonders.
What seemed impossible and not even a thought to be
considered, has become a reality as God
blesses the Brindabella Christian College
Board Directors’ steps of faithfulness.
2014 promises to be a year of new
beginnings and continued blessings for our
community.
God bless,
Elizabeth Hutton
