to ADFA and took a tour of the university.
Students got to see the state of the art facilities
available at the Academy for cadets. They were
then introduced to some cadets, who showed
them through their accommodation and chatted
with them about “life as a cadet at ADFA”.
The Over Water Obstacle Course was their
next adventure. After a safety brief from Flight
Sergeant Kev McGlynn, they jumped fully
clothed into the pool to test their swimming
abilities over 50 metres. The Over Water
Obstacle Course proved to be a great physical
and mental challenge and pushed the students
to their limits. The students got a great taste of
what life is like at ADFA and thoroughly enjoyed
the day.

On Thursday 25th April, nine of our Senior School students
attended the ANZAC Day National Ceremony held at the
Australian War Memorial. We applauded the hundreds of
participants as they marched their way across the parade
ground. Dr Brendan Nelson’s address was most powerful
and thought provoking. Our students commented on how
much they enjoyed being a part of this significant service.

On Monday 25th March, Year 9 students
attended a Mathematics Appreciation Day
run by staff from DISH (DSD Information
Security Hub) in Fairbairn. The focus of the
day was on exploring career opportunities in
Mathematics, problem solving activities and
integrating technology and software in the
application of mathematical tools. Students
had a stimulating day of activities and
thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

On Tuesday 20th August, the College was
privileged to have a visit from Major General
Angus Campbell – the Deputy Chief of Army. The
Deputy Chief was accompanied by Major Brett
Nelson and together joined a group of students
and parents for a morning tea. The Deputy
Chief addressed students on leadership and
shared a series of inspirational stories with our
community. He shared with us the story of Mark
Donaldson who took responsibility as a leader to
care for others as seen through his actions on the
battle field. He spoke about the integrity shown
and trust built by Australian soldiers in Pakistan
and the importance of listening to others and
learning from each other. Students listened to
stories of loss in Afghanistan and then of the
forgiveness demonstrated in seeking peaceful
resolutions by Australian military leaders.
