Professional Learning in 2015 included the following aims, objectives and format:
Objectives:
• Increase understanding of the Biblical worldview and how this can be applied to
pedagogy and curriculum; and
• Increase staff capacity for project based learning, 21st Century Learning and collaborative
practice.
Aims:
• Maintain and grow an understanding of what it is to teach in an authentically Christian
way;
• Grow capacity around best practice to improve student outcomes;
• Create an environment where staff take ownership for their own learning and see purpose
in self and collegial development;
• Continue to grow in collaborative practice and pedagogy for differing learning
environments;
• Keep up to date with any educational issues including; additional programmes, Australian
Teaching Standards, AITSL initiatives, reporting & TQI documentation;
• Educate staff aroundWHS requirements & updates on health related issues and legal
requirements (i.e. anaphylaxis training, first aid, mandatory reporting);
• Support early careers staff to move to fully registered & build upon College mentoring
program;
• Communicate and support staff through one to one interviews (HODS) and appraisal
reporting; and
• Continue to place all professional learning within the BCC overarching vision – ‘Our vision
is to advance a community of wisdom, integrity, service and excellence in and through
Christian Education’.
