STAFF
Brindabella Christian College has a caring and dedicated teaching staff who
commit themselves to excellence in every area of teaching. 2011 saw 6 new
staff arrive at the College increasing our teaching full-time equivalent (FTE)
from 30.3 to 35.61. In addition to our teaching staff, we have an admin team
of 6. Between 2010 and 2011, four teachers left the College. Two headed into
retirement, one to full time ministry and one to pursue a career elsewhere.
Represented among our qualifications are Masters Degrees (7%), Bachelors Degrees
(88%) in Education, Theology, Teaching, Information Systems, Arts, Science,
Engineering, Music, Human Movement and Visual Arts, and Teaching Certificates.
All staff are encouraged to enhance their specialist qualifications, skills and
knowledge through specific training and personal and professional development.
During 2011 staff attended courses for day to day work based essentials including
first aid (all staff). Seminars and conferences were also attended including topics
such as Leadership, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Drumbeat, Digital Learning and
Shakespeare Master Classes.
COMMUNITY CARE
Community Care is a year round service at Brindabella Christian College and over
the course of the 2011 academic year we supported and raised funds for many
different organisations and charities.
2011 saw us continue our ‘Gimme 5’ campaign raising over $1000 for the
Southcare Helicopter Service. The College also supported the work of Dr.
Catherine Hamlin at the Fistual Hosptial in Addis Ababa, Frank and Michele
Hewyard at the COME Uganda Mission in Kampala and entered into a new mission
partnership with the Batiri School in Fiji.
In Term 3 students across the College participated in Operation Christmas child,
collecting things to love, wear, for hygiene, for school and to play with and
packing them inside shoeboxes.
Students again participated in teh 40 Hour Famine gathering around the theme
of Heroes. Ably led by students who had attended the World Vision Global
Leadership Conference, the College was able to raise of $6,500.
CHAPLAINCY
The Chaplaincy vision for Brindabella Christian College is to facilitate Jesus-
centred community amongst the students. The Chaplaincy team, supported by a
large number of wonderful volunteers hosted many in-school and off site events
and provided pastoral support to a number of students.
Pancake Breakfasts, Camps, Assemblies, Go Deeper nights, prayer groups, morning
and afternoon teas, socials, student church plus lots of “hanging out” made 2011
fun
