P & F Report
The beginning of 2011 saw Geoff Fietz
standing down from his role as P& F
president, after some years in the role.
We thank Geoff for his commitment and
significant contribution to the Brindabella
community over the previous 2 years.
The 2011 fete, held in May was a
huge success due in no small part to
the tireless effort of the Fete Co-
Ordinator Angela Joyce. The profits
were spent on the amazing Junior
School playground area facing Brigalow
Street. This transformation was a
lovely surprise for the children, and
continues to be a very popular area.
In August, we welcomed Mr Peter
Crimmins – then BCC Board Chairperson –
to our ‘Coffee & Dessert’ meeting in the
Leadership and Learning Centre. Peter’s
passion for education in general, and
Brindabella in particular was obvious,
and his interesting and informative
presentation was very well received.
Also in August, we launched our ‘Kitchen
Angels’ initiative. The angels are
volunteers who anonymously contribute
to the provision of meals for members
of our BCC family who for various
reasons could use a helping hand. This
initiative has been a wonderful success
and continues to work to share the
sense of caring and community that is
such an integral part of Brindabella .
In November, the P & F gratefully received
a donation of fresh fruit from Ziggy’s
Fruit Market, Belconnen Mall, which was
used in the ‘goodie bags’ provided to our
2012 cohort of Kinder students on their
Orientation Day. Later that month, a team
of wonderful P& F volunteers catered for
the Year 7 Orientation Day. We welcomed
new families and provided a delicious
morning tea, and a ‘sausage sizzle’ lunch.
This was the first event of this kind for
Year 7 children and their families and was
a resounding success. We look forward to
providing similar hospitality each year.
Throughout 2011, our Uniform Shop
continued to provide an invaluable
service to our families, and made a
large contribution to our fundraising
account. We thank the lovely ladies who
make this happen each and every week.
The P & F continues to grow. We welcome
all parents and carers to meetings and
events, and encourage them to have
their say –to be a part of our fundraising
efforts and decision making process.
Many thanks to all our families who have
shopped, served, helped in a classroom,
shovelled, raked, manned a fete stall,
covered books, been on excursions,
sizzled sausages, baked cakes, attended
meetings, and participated in the
life of Brindabella in many ways.
