Welcome to Senior School

Years 7-10

At Brindabella Christian College, we nurture young people to live purposefully in response to God’s call. Our Secondary School is a vibrant Christian community where students grow in character, confidence, and faith while striving for academic excellence.

Our whole approach is to activate hope in our students.

Faith is central to all we do, woven through worship, prayer, and a biblical worldview in every subject. We aim to prepare students not just for academic success, but for a life of faith, service, and leadership.

Our teachers know their students deeply, walking beside them through challenges and successes. We celebrate each child’s God-given gifts and encourage them to use those gifts to serve others and make a difference in the world.

Developing Powerful Learners (DPL)

At the heart of our approach is the Developing Powerful Learners (DPL) framework, which equips students with the “learning muscles” they need for life:

  • Resilience – the emotional strength to persevere through challenges.
  • Resourcefulness – the cognitive agility to think creatively and make connections.
  • Reflectiveness – the strategic ability to plan, evaluate, and refine learning.
  • Relationality – the social skills to collaborate, empathise, and learn from others.

Grounded in the Christian worldview of Restoration, this framework helps students see learning as part of God’s work of renewal—using knowledge and gifts to bring hope and healing to the world.

Years 7–10

Exploring identity and building foundations

Years 7–10 are a time of growth, academically, socially, and spiritually. Students are supported through strong pastoral care, engaging learning, and a wide range of co-curricular opportunities.

  • Year 7: marks the exciting transition into Secondary School. Our core teacher model provides stability and connection, with pastoral teachers also teaching key subjects such as English, Humanities, and Biblical Living. This approach helps students build trust and confidence as they navigate new challenges and opportunities. A dedicated Year 7 Camp further strengthens friendships, resilience, and community connection.
  • Years 8–9: students broaden their studies through electives, deepen their understanding of the DPL framework, and participate in a vibrant range of co-curricular opportunities, including sport, performing arts, and academic extension programs. These years are about discovering strengths, developing curiosity, and learning the joy of using one’s gifts to bless others.
  • Year 10: is a pivotal time of preparation for Senior Secondary. Students engage in leadership roles, work experience, pathway interviews, and a life skills program. They take increasing ownership of their learning, supported by teachers who help them plan, reflect, and refine their goals. Year 10 students also have opportunities to mentor younger peers and contribute significantly to College life through student-led initiatives and service projects.

Daily Connect Time, year-level camps, and College events build a strong sense of belonging and faith community. By the end of Year 10, students are confident, capable, and ready to take their next step.
