Alyn Doig

Alyn was born in Northern Ireland and he and his family emigrated to Australia in 1989, and he settled in Canberra in 1992. Alyn served on the board of O’Connor Christian School before being a founding board member of Emmaus Christian School.

Alyn has been married to Olive, who works in cancer research, for 36 years and they have two adult daughters (his middle daughter died when she was 18 years old after a long battle with cancer) all of whom were schooled for a time at O’Connor Christian School. He also has two grandchildren.

Alyn is a barrister in private practice based in Canberra and during his 35 years in the law he has operated his own practices, both as a solicitor and as a barrister, he has been involved in research and training in various universities, and he has been the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions here in Canberra. He has also served the ACT by his appointment to the ACT Council on the Family, by his appointment as the Chair of the ACT Liquor Licensing Board and as the Chair of the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Industry Dispute Resolution Committee.

Alyn has been an active member of his church in excess of 40 years, serving as an elder in a number of congregations as well as being involved in church planting. Currently Alyn worships at Life UC in Charnwood where he serves as an elder.
