Annual Report 2012 - page 6

P & F Report
2012 was an eventful and productive
year for the BCC Parents & Friends
Association.
On the 14th of March, Mrs Hutton
presided over the o!cial opening of the
Charnwood Campus Early Learning
Centre and the P & F were delighted
to present a ‘Brindabella Bear’ to new
families.
With a view to creating a further public
presence for BCC and to support
our enthusiastic sports teams, the P
& F provided sponsorship for two
Intermediate netball teams in the
form of a subsidy for the purchase of
‘competition’ style uniforms. "ese were
excitedly received by our players and
looked great on the courts.
In May our BCC Gardening Club
began. "rough a small number of
grants, support from the P & F and BCC,
primary school children were able to
take part in recycling, soil testing, worm
farming and seedling propagation and
planting.
"e 2012 Fete, also held in May, was
hugely successful raising over $20,000.
"anks must go to Angela Joyce, our
tireless Fete Coordinator.
"roughout 2012 our Uniform Shop
continued to provide an invaluable
service to our families, and made a large
contribution to our fundraising account.
School Banking began in 2012, with
support from the Commonwealth Bank.
All students curently enrolled from
ELC to Year 12 at both campuses were
given the opportunity to bank weekly
at school, allowing the school to earn a
commission on each new account and
weekly deposit.
We were blessed by a crew of cheerful
and willing parent volunteers for
our theatre canteen during BCC’s
run of ‘Peter Pan’ in late August,
and our Kitchen Angels program,
which continues to provide meals for
members of our BCC Community
who, for various reasons, could use a
helping hand. "is initiative has been
a wonderful success and continues to
work to share the sense of caring and
community that is such an integral part
of Brindabella.
"e P&F is incredibly thankful to all
the families who have shopped, sorted,
carried, delivered,w ashed and ironed,
servied, helped in a classroom, shovelled,
raked, manned a fete stall, covered
books, counted money, moved furniture,
sold tickets, been on excursions, sizzled
sausages, baked cakes, sold uniforms,
attended meetings and participated in
the life of Brindabella in many ways.
"e P&F continues to grow. We
welcome all parents and carers to
meetings and events, and encourage
them to have their say and to be a part
of our fundraising e#orts and decision
making processes.
We look forward to another year of
fellowship, and more opportunities to
serve our community in 2013.
